A Broome Birthday
We celebrated my birthday at the Cable Beach Resort Bar and Grill restaurant after enjoying a G&T on the deck. The service here is always fabulous. A woman at the next table was also enjoying her birthday celebration and her husband insisted they come and join us after we had finished our main course. He then proceeded to tell us how magnificent he was as a businessman, and where they had been on previous trip and how much he'd spent. Boring!
Horizontal Falls was magnificent! We were picked up mid afternoon and taken to the Derby Airport - a tiny affair that is definitely in need of its rebuild - due to finish in a few years time.
The plane ride was terrifying and at one stage I ended up in a flood of tears, the PTSD anxiety took over completely but by the time we landed I was settled and the "Barra Shack" awaited our arrival.
We were given a shark feeding show and allowed to jump into the cage but unlike Tahiti, we were separated from the sharks. They are the "Tawny Nurse" variety of shark and although their mouths are quite narrow their teeth are razor sharp - all four rows of them - so you do not want to get a finger (or any other part of your body!) available for it to grab.

Back to the Barra Shack for a quick shower and frock up, then to dinner of fresh barramundi and salads on the boats. We were limited to 5 kg each and we had to provide our own beach towel and bath towel so our grog amounts were somewhat limited but we certainly enjoyed some prosecco bubbles and a few glasses of red wine.
John rose early (5 am) to make sure we were the first in line to
get on board the jet boat for our second go around Horizontal Falls.
Yesterday we "experienced" the Falls via the woman in front's
iPad - every one of the six trips through the Falls one way, and then again the
other way. These two "Jans" were not happy! The driver of
the boat must be very, very experienced as he shot us forward with three 900
hsp beneath us.

We boarded the flight back to Derby.

And as the birthday girl - I got to co-pilot - or ride shotgun, I was told not to touch any of the controls - as if I would!
